先月東京ローカルアーティストのみで開催し、勢いも新たに16年目の第一歩を大きく踏み出した WOMB の最長人気レジデント・ドラムンベースパーティー 06S。7月はニュージーランドの雄、The Upbeats が、06S 初登場!! オセアニア地区代表と呼ぶに相応しい人気アーティスト The Upbeats は、そのユニークでオーガニックなドラムの響きと共に、ダークでハードコアなシンセ音や極太なベースサウンドを特徴とし、オリジナリティーの高い音楽性で、ドラムンベースシーンにおいて長年に渡ってその地位を確立している。Noisia、Bad Company、Mefjus をはじめとする大物著名アーティストとのコラボレーションも数多く発表し、2014年9月の Shapeshifter とのコラボレーション EP “Bloodstream” は、ニュージーランドの iTunes チャートにおいてリリースからわずか2日で1位を記録した。また、Ed Rush & Optical、Noisia、Bad Company、Mutated Forms 等のリミックス制作や、RAM Records、Virus Recordings、Blackout、Vision Recordings 等の大手ドラムンベース・レーベルからのリリースも制覇し、The Upbeats は今やドラムンベースシーンにおいて中心人物である。
昨年 The Upbeats は世界 No.1 のサウンドをプロデュースすると形容されるオランダを拠点とする神ユニット Noisia と共にコラボレーション EP “Dead Limit” をリリースし、その楽曲はドラムンベース・アリーナ・アワードで”ベスト・トラック賞”を受賞。Andy C をはじめ Top アーティスト達にヘビーローテーションされている。今年に入り3パートから成るトラックシリーズ ”De-Evolution” を Noisia のレーベルからリリースし、大きな反響を呼んでいる。
The Upbeats は年間100ギグを超えるパフォーマンスをこなし、ラスベガスの EDC、ベルギーの Pukkelpop、ウィーンの Urban Art Forms、インドの Supersonic、セルビアの Exit Festival、クロアチアの Outlook Festival 等のビッグフェスへの参戦や、話題沸騰中の Noisia Invites のショウケース”Northern Bass”に中心アーティストとして出演するなど、世界中からオファーも絶えず、その巧みなプレイスキルにも大注目。迎え撃つ日本人アーティストは、アジア代表として今年キャリア20周年を迎える、06S の看板レジデントアーティスト AKi。安定したプレイと実績に定評がある Masa。日本レコード大賞を受賞した三代目 J Soul Brothers “R.Y.U.S.E.I.” の作編曲者でもあるアップカミングアーティスト Maozon と充実のラインナップ。7月の 06S もパリピも驚愕の怒涛のグルーブで、ドラムンベースフリークならずとも、外せ無い一夜になる事、間違い無し!!

Last month, WOMB took a dynamic first big step into the new year with a Tokyo artists-only performance at WOMB'S most longstanding popular resident DRUM&BASS party, 06S. In July, the New Zealand male band The Upbeats will make their 06S debut! This popular duo is fit to be called an Oceania representative: The Upbeats has collaborated with loads of major celebrated artists like Noisia, Bad Company, and Mefjus. Their September 2014 collaborative EP with Shapeshifter, "Bloodstream," hit top spot on the New Zealand iTunes charts within two days of release. The Upbeats has also done remixes by Ed Rush & Optical, Noisia, Bad Company, and Mutated Forms, as well as releases from drum and bass labels like RAM Records, Virus Recordings, Blackout, and Vision Recordings. The Upbeats is currently a leading band in the drum and bass scene.
Last year The Upbeats collaborated with Netherlands-based artist Noisia, producing that global #1 sound, for the EP "Dead Limit," which won the Drum and Bass Arena "Best Track Award." The Upbeats is being broadcast in heavy rotation with top artists like Andy C. This year, Noisia's label released the three-part track series "De-Evolution," which is having a huge impact.
