Japan Music Week After Party!!

今年2009年11月9日から15日にかけて開催される、日本初の国際音楽見本市「Japan Music Week」(以下JMW)。JMWとは、今後活躍が期待される新人アーティストを国内及び世界各国から招き、ミュージック・ショーケースを中心に、音楽産業従事者に向けたコンファレンスやセミナーも同時に開催するインターナショナルな音楽イベントなのです。フランスのMIDEMをはじめ、アメリカの SXSWやドイツのPOPKOMMなど欧米各国で毎年行われている音楽見本市を、ここ日本でも開催してしまおうと。そして、国際的な視野で日本の音楽産業を活性化させようというのが狙いですね。ちなみに会場は渋谷周辺を予定しているそうです。(ざっくばらんでいいですねぇ)4月22日にも、ここLe Baronで非公式超プレパーティーを開催したのですが、ここにきてやっと、公式のキックオフパーティーを開催する運びとなったわけです!東京在住の皆さん!一緒にJMWを盛り上げましょう!!

Due to be held over 15 days from Nov 9, Japan Music Week (JMW) is this nation's first ever international music tradeshow. This international event invites upcoming musicians from Japan and many other countries and features many music showcases, conferences and seminars aimed at music industry professionals. It seeks to rival France's MIDEM, America's SXSW and Germany's POPKOMM as an annual event that attracts top names from the business of music. It also aims to further invigorate Japan's music industry by helping it to develop a more global outlook. The venue is slated to be in the Shibuya area. In celebration of this exciting new initiative, Le Baron de Paris hosted an unofficial pre-launch party on Apr 22, and now we are delighted to announce the official kick-off event is to be held here, too! Everyone in Tokyo with a stake in the business of sound should definitely be here!

80年代の後期にソーホーのThe Brainなどでヒップホップやファンクをプレイしたり、Gimme 5と一緒にRonnie Scotts でパーティーを主催したり、またJames Lavelleの More Wax創立メンバーの一人として、イギリスはもとより東京でも知られた存在。ラジオステーションsamurai.fmのStudy Mastersを担当している。

Fraser Cooker

In the late '80s, Fraser was a key figure in the hip hop and funk boom emanating from Soho's The Brain. He threw parties with the Gimme 5 crew at Ronnie Scott's and ran with James Lavelle's Mo' Wax crew, which developed strong links with the Tokyo scene. He also runs the Study Masters show on samurai.fm



■DJ Dirk Bite (Kinfork/Loud Minority)

同世代DJの中でも高い人気を誇るDirk Biteは2007年、「Pub Rocker Acid Disco DJ of the Year Award」(PRADYA)を創設し、混迷を極める多くのエントリーの中、疑う余地無く勝者となった。そして、Samurai.fmの創設者である盟友 HASHと共に、フリー・ジャズサックスプレイヤーであるフランク・フォスターのスピリチュアル・グルーヴ名曲を冠した精鋭たるDJ集団LOUD MINORITYを立ち上げた。

DJ Dirk Bite (Kinfork/Loud Minority)

Known for tearing apart dancefloors at pop hot spot Le Baron de Paris and occasionally elsewhere, Dirk Bite plays disco, electro, rock 'n' rave and a whole bunch of shit besides. He surfs the fantastic firmament of disco to outer regions of the sonic universe and brings it back a dancefloor-vaporizing sound at an hour your momma would be just starting to water the pot plants.



■DJ Sarasa

横浜生まれN.Y.育ち。2002年よりカナダのラジオ局でDJを務める。2005年に帰国し、映画「Block Party」「RIZE」の国内プロモーションに携わる。スクラッチ要素とブレイクダンスを取り入れたパフォーマンスDJは国境を越え、ストリートからフォーマルなパーティーまであらゆるシーンに対応。流行に敏感な10代の若者から往年のディスコ世代の50代に至るまで、常に幅広い年齢層から支持を得ている。

DJ Sarasa

Born in Yokohama and raised in NYC, Sarasa began working as a radio DJ in Canada in 2002. She returned to Japan in 2005, and was involved in the promotion of movies "Block Party" and "RIZE". Her DJ sets have a performance element incorporating scratching and breakdance, and have a cosmopolitan. She is very versatile, and has a broad fan base ranging from fashion-conscious teens to former disco animals in their 50s.
