SUPER PONEY NIGHT

■PONEY PONEY

PONEY PONEY

Poney Poney is the brainchild of Son of Grunge Antoine, who began with his iPod serving as drummer and bass player, but when the machine was stolen at the second gig enlisted the help of friends Samuel and Florent. The songs By The Numbers and AM Music were recorded with the help of dear JUSTICE and SODA POP KID, while Junior was mastered by Xavier de Rosnay, who also did the honors for the hit Cross The Fader . Poney Poney is now a duo and promoting the new single "When Do You Wanna Stop Working?" out on Institubes' new pop imprint, Unsunned. Produced by Para One, it's a slice of high-energy powerpop, with affecting agitprop lyrics in the sad, plaintive language of late-night soul-searching. And thanks to Pacific! s elegant pop remix, the sun is beaming from Sweden. Poney Poney s first album is being recorded right now, with Xavier de Rosnay still rolling for the band. Beware.

■PONY PONY RUN RUN

PONY PONY RUN RUN

Formed in 2005 in Nantes, the French trio Pony Pony Run Run has been playing alongside British indie bands like These Arms are Snakes, Who Made Who, Art Brut, The Paper Chase, Federal and Elevate Newton s Theory. After reversal singles and performances from Barcelona to Warsaw, the band is set to release their debut album "You Need Pony Pony Run Run" in June 2009. Their electro dance/power pop/rock sound is influenced by the '80s indie bands such as Friendly Fire and current pop/rock superstars like Phoenix, Neon Neon, The Teenagers and Royksopp.

■KIRI (REVOLVER)

KIRI

Kiri founded the label Revolver in 1998, at the peak of the Ura-Harajuku boom. His official title is director of the brand, but he has links to many industries and is a famous figure on the Tokyo scene.

■DJ MAAR (DEXPISTOLS)

DJ MAAR (DEXPISTOLS)

Since he began spinning at the legendary club Gold in Tokyo at the age of 18, DJ Maar has been building a reputation as one of Japan s most important music talents. The unit he forms in partnership with DJ Daruma, the designer of fashion brand ROC STAR, is called DEXPISTOLS, and the pair use four CDJ machines and samplers to create their sound, which is electro mixed with hip hop, punk rock and reggae.
