N’Dea Davenport of seminal acid jazz band Brand New Heavies is visiting Japan and will be doing an exclusive performance at Le Baron de Paris. In support are several famous DJs, who will be celebrating N’Dea’s birthday with a selection of amazing tracks! Come and join the celebration!

90年代半ばにUKアッシドジャズ界で話題をさらったバンド、Brand New Heaviesの初代歌姫。ジョージア州アトランタ出身で、幼い頃からジャズ、ゴスペル、R&Bを嗜好、早くから本格的なヴォーカリストを目指していた。Brand New Heaviesのアンセム「Never Stop (1991)」の大ヒットによってスターダムを駆け上がった彼女は、ソロ活動1作目『N'Dea Davenport』でTLCやBOYZ ⅡMENのプロデューサーであるダラス・オースティンとタッグを組み、クラシックR&Bの才能を見せつけた。ジャズに影響を受けた’70sソウルで一貫したライブパフォーマンスは必聴である。また2009年からはKatsuya EverywhereとともにコラボレーションプロジェクトCelectrixxを立ち上げ、今年5月にはカンヌ国際映画祭に出演している。

DJ / リミキサー / プロデューサー。NYで制作したオリジナル音源「BLAZIN’」をDJ Timmy Regisfordが一晩に三度もプレイしたことをきっかけに一躍注目を集める。Kyoto Jazz Massive、TOWA TEI、STUDIO APARTMENTなどのリミックスも手掛けるなど、リミキサーとしての一面も持ち合わせる。現在はJJazz.Net SUNTORY “WHISKY MODE”と渋谷FM“THE ROOM RADIO”にてナビゲーターを担当。ホームグラウンドの渋谷THE ROOMでは月例パーティーMAGiCのレジデントDJを務めている。また2013年5月にはキャリア初のコンプリートベスト盤「NAKED ~DJ KAWASAKI Complete Best (Universal Music LLC)」をリリースした。

The soulful voice of vocalist/ songwriter/ producer N'Dea Davenport first gained fame as the front woman for British Acid Jazz funk band, The Brand New Heavies. Hailing from Atlanta, she moved to Los Angeles at an early age and became involved in the city’s burgeoning underground club warehouse scene. A chance encounter with Fab Five Freddy led to her being signed to The Delicious Vinyl record label, on which she released her debut long-player. When the same label signed The Brand New Heavies, N'Dea was invited to collaborate as lead vocalist. She relocated to London and became a key figure in the birth of the Acid Jazz movement. In 1995, N'Dea returned to the US, where she continued to develop her solo career, collaborating with various artists including Mos Def, Everlast, DJ Krush, Guru (Jazzmatazz), Natalie Merchant and Daniel Lanois. Davenport is currently developing and performing new material for a new album. In 2009 she teamed up with Katsuya Everywhere on a collaboration project called Celectrixx, which performed at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2013.

DJ, remixer and producer, DJ KAWASAKI’s track “BLAZIN’” was played three times in one set by DJ Timmy Regisford, winning him a lot of attention. He has done remixes for Kyoto Jazz Massive, TOWA TEI, STUDIO APARTMENT and many others. He currently presides over the radio show JJazz.Net SUNTORY “WHISKY MODE” and “THE ROOM RADIO” on Shibuya FM. He is the resident DJ at MAGiC at THE ROOM in Shibuya. Also, in May 2013 he released the album “NAKED ~DJ KAWASAKI Complete Best” on Universal Music.
