VETA with Container Live Set

渋谷moduleを拠点にインダストリアルテクノを展開する"VETA"に、ノイズ・エクスペリメンタル・テクノ作品を長きに渡って生み出し続けている「Container」がLive Setで登場。
彼独特の歪んだ音色と硬派なロウ・サウンドのグルーヴは、パンクの初期衝動を彷彿とさせるほど攻撃的だが、同時にダンサブルで恍惚的なダンスフロアを創り上げる、唯一無二のものである。
現在彼は、Morphine Records、Spectrum Spools、Mute系列Liberation Technologiesからのリリースや、Four Tetの楽曲「Kool FM」の狂人的リミックスによって全世界で話題になっている。
移り変わりが一層激しくなるエレクトロニック・ミュージック・シーン。渋谷の稀少な中箱としてシーンを支え続け、惜しくも今年9月で閉店となるmodule最後の土曜日に、"VETA"だからこそ体験できるキワどい一夜。百読は一聞に如かず。

End of summer, VETA will have US based Techno project "Container" as their 14th party in Shibuya, Tokyo. Container, his crunchy beats, low-tech decay and fist-pumping zeal have struck a chord with an electronic dance music scene that is once again craving techno that is hard, heavy and elemental. Through releasing infamous Four Tet's "Kool FM" remix, and head-banging gems from Morphine Records, Spectrum Spools, Liberation Technologies ( Mute's sister label ), his position apparently skyrocked to cult status. But he said, "It could develop differently, but my own twist will never disappear."

米国ロードアイランド州、プロビデンス市で活動を開始したビート・オリエンテッドなアーティスト、コンテイナー。粘っこくかつパンクな波形をハンマーリズムに刻み込み、サイケデリックで催眠的、かつ残忍な音楽を奏でるレン・スコフィールドによるプロジェクトである。ローファイに作られたドラムパターンやスパイラルするループ、催眠性の高いアレンジはステージでのライブに重きを置いて作られており、ハイエンドなダンスフロアにもボロボロな倉庫パーティにも機能的にハマる音楽になっている。彼は90年代のミニマルテクノへの反動として、自身のバックグラウンドであるノイズやカセットテープ音楽の要素を反復するビートと合わせ、より現場感があり、粗いダンスミュージックを始めた。様々なカセットテープでのリリースを経て、2011年にエディションズ・メーゴのサブレーベルであるスペクトラム・スプールズからデビューLPをリリース。またミュートの兄弟レーベル、リベレーション・テクノロジーズからも12インチをリリースしている。

Container is the stripped-down, beat-oriented electronic project of Providence, RI’s Ren Schofield, who somehow sculpts viscous punk sonics into raw jackhammer rhythms that groove in the most relentless, hypnotic, unstoppable and psychedelic ways currently working the grid. This lo-fi mesh of maxed-out drum patterns, spiralling loops and mesmerising arrangements makes for live music of serious weight and function, suitable for both high-end dancefloors and filthy warehouse parties alike. Started in 2009 in response to his discovery of nineties minimal techno, Container combined elements from his background in noise and cassette collage music with a new found interest in repetitive beats to create this raw and damaged rhythmic sound. After a string of various cassette releases, the debut full-length LP was released by Editions Mego sub-label Spectrum Spools in 2011, and has since been followed up by a second Spools LP, the Treatment 12” on the Morphine label, and a new 12” on Mute’s Liberation Technologies imprint which will be dropping this Fall.
