MIDI_sai presents Broken Weekender > at club Daphnia, featuring Alex Wilcox, a producer who has been called Odd-eye/Banger Techno for his unclassifiable sound and has released on Nina Kraviz's label Trip, etc. The event will be held at club Daphnia! From local music scene, the ghetto house unit SHITTY HUNTER2, who released their first EP "SHITWORKS" this year, will lead the event, and Limited Toss, who also mastered the EP, will cross over the floor like Bears. PortaL, the leader of Soundgram, came from Tokyo, genre-possessing beat scientist USK and Ascalypso, who are exploring the feeling of "gal bass," joined them, and DISTEST and KA4U of MIDI_sai, sandwiched everyone with their Banger Shits. There, GUL's artwork comboed with visually expanding catchpulse. Here is the rave attitude sent to Broken Weekender in midsummer!

Alex Wilcox is an American music producer and Live Performer/DJ based in Berlin. He recently burst onto the scene when Anetha discovered his sizzling banger “Sleep Paralysis” which led to his Mama Told Ya EP titled - “It’s Okay to Cry.” As reviewed by Resident Advisor, this “odd- ball” techno release was quickly played by Ellen Al- lien, Nina Kraviz, Mama Snake, Francois X, and countless others at Berghain, Fusion Fest, Ultra, and too many others to list. The release caught the attention of label heads around the world, eventually leading to EP’s on Ellen Allien’s label UFO Recordings, Nina Kraviz’s Trip, and several other high-end releases slated for 2024. These EP’s expanded on Alex’s deep and multi- faceted musical background - showcasing surgical, banging, hooky techno that pushed boundaries and has been played by Richie Hawtin, SPFDJ, Bjarki, Patrick Mason, Anetha, Salome, AADJA, u.r. Trax, and too many more to list. His influences are dramatic, ranging from working at Underground Resistance HQ in Detroit with Mike Banks, setting up microphones for Tyler, the Creator in Hollywood, to assisting Platinum-selling pop pro- ducer Pinkslip in Los Angeles. Alex was quickly brought out of the studio to make his Berlin debut at Ellen Allien’s infamous “We Are Not Alone” party. In the past year he has started to light up the club circuit and premiere his first festivals - playing at Nexus (Paris), Abyss (Shanghai), Steppe Arena (Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia), Electrobeach (Port- Bacares), Pal (Hamburg), La Belle Électrique (Grenoble), Echo Recordings (Groningen, NL) and many other spots. His hybrid sets feature live vocals and only his own productions and can be described as a genre-less chaotic whirlwind involving hard cuts, numerous BPM changes, existential theatrical moments, and a punk rock mentality. His new album BANG BANG BANG! destroys genre lines - spanning BPM’s from 128-190, and makes Alex’s life difficult because everyone keeps asking him what to call this music.
