Neekは、コレクティヴYOUNG ECHOのメンバーとしても活動しているが、その中で最もよく知られているのはKahnとのコラボレーションだろう。BS0第1回を彩った2015年の初来日ツアーは、このKahn & Neekとその別名義Gorgon Soundとして世界のヘッズを魅了するブリストルミュージックの先端が日本中に届いた瞬間でもあった。
グライムやダブステップ、ダンスホールレゲエやUKダブ、レフトフィールド・アンビエントまで、作品/名義ごとに様々な魅力をみせるNeekは、’10年代前期以降、Deep Medi、Butterz、Hotline Recordingsといった名門レーベルからのリリースを続ける。近年ではJabuとの独創性が鈍く光る実験音楽ユニットO$VMV$Mの存在感も強く、ブリストルの外へ、そしてベースミュージックリスナーの外へも影響力を広げていくことになる。

パーティクルーSUPER PLAYは、MEGURO、kobachiが主催しBDS、neneeedy、yunioshiがレジデントを務めるゲットーサウンドのグルーヴ、ベースミュージックを新解釈するニューエラなパーティで、下北沢LIVE HAUSやclubasiaで回を重ねながら9月に2周年を迎えた。今回のパーティではアグレッシブなプレイでジャングル、ダブステップ、テクノを横断するMEGUROとUKベースカルチャーを軸にストイック&エンジョイなプレイが広く愛されるBDSがそれぞれNeekをサポートする。このBS0とのセッションでも、彼らの稀有なキュレーションは炸裂している。スタイリスト兼プロデューサーで謎多きOZZY’S VISION、先述のBS0初回にも出演したSakanaは国産グライムレーベルnullrebelのMC、YammyBox、吐黒とのセッションを披露。ヒップでブレイキンなスタイルのMaya Bridgetとスモーキーで黒い感性をもつyayoiとのドラムンベースB2B、ルーツと現行の解釈を交差させ新たなDUBシーンを担う“重低”からakiiが名を連ねる。

ブリストルの音とスピリッツを都内に表出させるパーティ/コレクティブBS0からは、オリジナルメンバー1TA、Dx、Osam Green Giantが揃ってBS0 Gangとして登場。BS0のスピンオフ・クルーBS0xtraから、ヒップホップ、ダブ、サウンドシステムミュージックを咀嚼して、独自のRebel Beatzを追求するDADDY VEDAが出演。

さらに、VJには音響ブランドM.A.S.F.の開発者で、ENDONのエレクトロニクス奏者Taro Aikoという驚きのサポーターが加勢する。

Neek is also active as a member of the collective YOUNG ECHO, but he is best known for his collaborations with Kahn. Their first tour to Japan in 2015, which marked the launch of BS0, was a moment when the cutting-edge sounds of Bristol, including Kahn & Neek and their alternate alias Gorgon Sound, captivated heads all over the world and reached audiences across Japan.
Neek showcases various musical styles with each release and alias, ranging from grime, dubstep, and dancehall reggae to UK dub and left-field ambient. Since the early 2010s, he has been consistently releasing music on prestigious labels such as Deep Medi, Butterz, and Hotline Recordings. More recently, his experimental music project O$VMV$M, a collaboration with Jabu, has been gaining attention for its unique, understated creativity, further expanding his influence beyond Bristol and the bass music scene.
The party crew SUPER PLAY, organized by MEGURO and kobachi with BDS, neneeedy, and yunioshi as resident DJs, is a new-era party reinterpreting the groove of ghetto sound and bass music. Celebrating its second anniversary in September, it has been regularly held at venues like Shimokitazawa LIVE HAUS and clubasia. In this party, MEGURO, known for his aggressive sets crossing jungle, dubstep, and techno, and BDS, who is widely loved for his stoic yet joyful UK bass culture-centered performances, will be supporting Neek. Their rare and exceptional curation will be on full display during this session with BS0.
OZZY’S VISION, a mysterious stylist and producer, and Sakana, who performed at the first BS0 event and is an MC for the domestic grime label nullrebel, will showcase a session with YammyBox and Hakuro. Maya Bridget, with her hip and breakin’ style, and yayoi, known for her smoky and dark sensibility, will perform a B2B drum and bass set. Akii, representing the new DUB scene with a mix of roots and contemporary interpretations, will also join from the “Heavy Bass” crew.
From BS0, the party/collective that embodies the sounds and spirits of Bristol in Tokyo, original members 1TA, Dx, and Osam Green Giant will appear as BS0 Gang. Additionally, DADDY VEDA from BS0xtra, the spin-off crew that explores unique Rebel Beatz by digesting hip-hop, dub, and sound system music, will perform.
Moreover, VJ Taro Aiko, a developer for the audio brand M.A.S.F. and an electronics performer for ENDON, will offer incredible support to this event.
